NPS THE WINNER OF EACH CLASS WILL GO FORWARD TO THE FINAL AT THE NPS SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW AT MALVERN IN AUGUST. A PONY MAY ONLY QUALIFY ONCE. WHERE THE FIRST IN THE CLASS HAS ALREADY QUALIFIED, THE PONY STANDING NEXT IN LINE WHICH HAS NOT QUALIFIED WILL BE DEEMED THE QUALIFIER. QUALIFICATION MAY GO NO LOWER THAN 3RD PLACE. BREED SHOW QUALIFYING ROUNDS: OWNERS DO NOT NEED TO BE MEMBERS OF THE NPS, SHOULD SUCH AN EXHIBITOR QUALIFY THE OWNER IS REQUIRED TO BECOME AN NPS ADULT/SHOWING MEMBER AND THE PONY ENTERED INTO THE COMPETITION RECORD WITHIN 14 DAYS FOR THE QUALIFICATION TO BE VALID. NPS ADULT/STANDARD MEMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO UPGRADE TO ADULT/SHOWING TO ENTER THE FINAL.

 

CHAPS (UK) THIS SHOW IS AFFILIATED TO THE COLOURED HORSE AND PONY SOCIETY (UK). BOTH THE OWNER/RIDER./EXHIBITOR NEED NOT BE A MEMBER OF CHAPS (UK) NOR THE PONY REGISTERED WITH CHAPS (UK) TO COMPETE, BUT IN ORDER TO QUALIFY THEY MUST BOTH BE SHOWING MEMBERS AND THE HORSE/PONY MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE SOCIETY BEFORE THIS SHOW FOR THE QUALIFICATION TO BE VALID. PONIES(UK) THIS SHOW IS A QUALIFIER FOR THE 2010 P(UK) SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW TO BE HELD FROM 11TH-14TH AUGUST AT NEWARK & NOTTS SHOWGROUND. THE 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD IN EACH CLASS WILL QUALIFY. COMPETITORS IN QUALIFYING POSITIONS WHO ARE NOT CURRENT MEMBERS OF P(UK) ARE ALLOWED 14 DAYS IN WHICH TO BECOME MEMBERS AND REGISTER THEIR PONIES IN ORDER FOR THE QUALIFICATION TO REMAIN VALID. NO QUALIFICATION CARDS WILL BE AWARDED IN THE RING

 

BDS THE HIGHEST PLACED TURNOUT OWNED AND DRIVEN BY A MEMBER OF THE BDS AND ELIGIBLE FOR THEIR TYPE SECTIONS ENTERED WILL QUALIFY FOR THE 2010 CHAMPIONSHIPS. QUALIFICATION WILL GO NO LOWER THAN 4TH PLACE.

 

VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY THE VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY SHOWING CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE OPEN TO BOTH MEMBERS & NON MEMBERS OF THE VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY. PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE IN THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. QUALIFICATION CARDS WILL ONLY BE GIVEN TO THE FIRST 2 MEMBERS WITH THEIR V.H.S MEMBERSHIP/HORSE REGISTRATION CARDS AS PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP TO THE SOCIETY. THE REGIONAL WINNERS WILL GO ON TO COMPETE AT THE VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY SHOWING CHAMPIONSHIP SUPREME FINAL AT OLYMPIA IN DECEMBER. VETERAN HOSRE SOCIETY SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS.

 

THIS SHOW IS AFFILIATED TO EQUIFEST TAKING PLACE AT THE EAT OF ENGLAND SHOWGROUND ON 19TH—22ND AUGUST 2010. THE TWO HIGHEST EXHIBITS NOT ALREADY QUALIFIED IN EACH AFFILIATED CLASS WILL QUALIFY.

 

THIS SHOW IS AFFILIATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL SHOWING SOCIETY AND IS A QUALIFIER FOR THE ROYAL LONDON SHOW 2010. 1ST, 2ND & 3RD PONIES IN CLASSES 1,2, 6, 37-46, 49, 50, 52, 53, 54 AND 74 WILL QUALIFY FOR THE CHAMPION OF BRITAIN TITLE CLASSES TO BE HELD AT THE ROYAL LONDON SHOW 2010. EACH QUALIFIED PONY WILL RECEIVE A QUALIFICATION CARD IN THE RING WHICH WILL ENABLE THE OWNER TO ENTER THE ROYAL LONDON SHOW, PROVIDED THE OWNER AND RIDER/HANDLER ARE, OR BECOME REGISTERED WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SHOWING SOCIETY WITHIN 28 DAYS OF THE QUALIFYING SHOW. RULES AND CONDITIONS

1. All ponies must be registered with the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society or in the main body of a Daughter Stud Book of their Country of Residence. They must also be in possession of a valid passport relating to them. The exception is Sunday driving classes which are open to any horse/pony.

2.If any animal is found to be suffering from any contagious disease,it shall be removed from the showground immediately. 

3.The working party of the Shetland Performance Show and T.C.A Trading Ltd, accept no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property. It shall be deemed a condition of entry that each entrant shall indemnify the organisers against any legal action or claim arising from an accident in connection with this show. British Standard Hats must be worn at all times with chin straps fastened when mounted.

4. The Judges decision is FINAL in ALL cases. The committee reserve the right to change Judges if necessary.

5. In the event of cancellation of the show through causes beyond our control 50% of the entry fee will be retained for

expenses.

6.NO BICYCLES OR SCOOTERS TO BE RIDDEN IN THE STABLE AREA, HORSEWALKS OR LORRY PARK. The Show Committee has the right to confiscate a bike or scooter from a person not complying with this rule. Bikes and scooters will be returned at the end of the Show on receipt of a £20 release fee.

7. The working party reserve the right to refuse entry without giving reason.

8. Foals must be at least 3 weeks old on the day of the show. Mares with foal at foot may not be ridden or driven.

9. A novice pony is defined as per schedule in individual classes. NPS and CHAPS (UK) qualifier rules apply.

10. All riders ages are as at 1st January 2010.

11. No spurs to be worn in ridden classes.

12. All ponies to be shown in their natural state, only trimming of the beard and levelling of ears permitted.

13. It is the responsibility of the entrants to be ready for classes. The classes will not be held up for late comers.

14. The working party reserve the right to amalgamate classes at their discretion.

15.If the working party deem the conditions of the rings unsafe to use, rings will be moved to a more suitable area on the showground.

16.THE WORKING PARTY RESERVE THE RIGHT TO RANDOM BLOOD TEST ANY PONY AT THE SHOW.

17. Any objection must be handed to the Secretary, in writing within ten minutes of the alleged incident, accompanied by a

£50 deposit, returnable if the objection is upheld.

18. Competitors taking part in the Show Drive MUST HAVE public liability insurance.

19.ALL RIDERS AND HANDLERS OF ENTIRE MALES MUST BE AGED 11 YEARS AND 14 YEARS RESPECTIVELY ON 1st JANUARY 2010 UNLESS INDIVIDUAL SOCIETY RULES STATE OTHERWISE.

20.ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEADS. THIS INLCLUDES IN THE LORRY PARK, STABLE AREA AND HORSEWALKS. ANY OWNER BREACHING THIS RULE WILL IN THE FIRST INSTANCE BE GIVEN A VERBAL WARNING. ANY FUTURE BREACH WILL INCUR A £20 ON THE SPOT FINE.

21. Secure temporary stabling is permissible in the lorry park but if the ponies are held in an electric fence enclosure

during the day they must be kept in a stable at night or on the lorry. Health & Safety is an important issue and if the

working party feels that electric fencing is inappropriate and could place other exhibitors at the Show at risk, it reserves

the right to ask an exhibitor to place their pony (ies) in stabling at the showground or on the lorry.

British Dressage Test Prelim 14.

Two highest placed ponies will qualify for the Dressage Championship Final, Addington Equestrian

Centre, Buckinghamshire in April 2011 . Ponies in the Final must be ridden by the qualifying rider.

Those qualifying for the Final must be fully paid up Dressage or Showing members of the NPS for

2011 in order to compete at the Final. To be judged under the Rules of the NPS.

CLASS D9 PLEASURE DRIVING

Class for non-traditional vehicles. Exhibits will be judged on safety, cleanliness of

pony and vehicle, obedience of pony and on ability and turnout of the whip.

Pneumatic tyres are allowed. Competitors in this class wishing to take part in their

non-traditional vehicle on the Show Drive (Class D13) may do so non competitively.

Entry Fee: £7.00

 

 

CLASS D10 JUNIOR WHIP

Young Drivers age 18 and under. Drivers should be accompanied by a competent

adult groom. Open to traditional and non traditional vehicles

Entry Fee: £7.00

 

CLASS D11 DRIVERS DREAM STYLE & PERFORMANCE CLASS

Open to all types of vehicle inc light trade. Each turnout will first be inspected for

cleanliness and correctness, then go forward individually for a three minute display

which must include in any order:

- extended trot across 2 diagonals

- circle at collected trot

- reins in one had circle to the right and then circle to the left in working trot

The highest placed traditional and highest placed non traditional turnout that have not

already done so, will qualify for the Supreme Championship at Drivers Dream in

Bedfordshire on 28th August 2010.

CLASS D12 PRIVATE DRIVE WITH SHOW DRIVE

Incorporating Show Type d) Single Country Vehicle

This class is a qualifier for the 2010 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National

Championships. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member

of the British Driving Society and eligible of type section d) disregarding

those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the

2010 Semi Finals.The Championship will immediately follow the

Semi Finals.

As this is a breed show a non-NPS member may qualify for the Final to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show, provided they become a full adult showing member of the NPS within 7 days. The winners of classes 37-46 will also qualify for the Glyn Greenwood Memorial In Hand Championship at the P(UK) Championships in August.

The winners of classes 37—46 will also qualify for Equifest and the Royal

London Show 2010.

produced and led by the owner/spouse or his/her son/daughter/grandchild.

TO CELEBRATE the 30th ANNIVERSARY of the

SHETLAND PONY AWARDS

 

THE NATIONAL RIDDEN SHETLAND CHAMPION 2010

Open to Lead Rein, First Ridden and Open Ridden ponies 5 years old & over.

To be eligible to enter the championship a pony and rider

combination must compete in 3 ridden classes on Saturday 10th July and 1 on Sunday 11th July before class 48 (classes can be

affiliated or non affiliated but not include Gymkhana or clear round). Entries for these classes can be made on the day.

Entries for the Championship (class 48) must be received by the closing date for the Show (1st July 2010) on the official entry form. Entry Fee: £10.00

Entries will be asked to perform an individual show of no longer than 2 minutes, to include a walk away from the judges and a trot back.

3 respected judges to judge independently using a score sheet. None of the judges will have bred or owned a ridden Shetland, or have leased or had a commercial interest in a ridden Shetland in the last 12 months.

Marking System for each judge worth a total of 100 points.

Score sheets will be collected after each competitor and verified by an independent adjudicator.

The Schooling day was held on Saturday 17th April 2010 at the Unicorn Centre, Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire

Flat work, WHP and Grand national schooling, we hope all who attended found the day helpful, your coments would be gratefully received.

It was lovely to see new children and ponies on what turned out to be a sunny day in the cotswolds

PERFORMANCE SHOW MALVERN 2008 Print E-mail

ImageWe were blessed again with Malvern's endearing weather features sharp showers on Saturday and glorious sunshine on Sunday.

The weekend started on Friday afternoon with our very successful clinics, Caroline Nelson took the 18 children through the ins and outs of working hunter pony classes and the success was reflected over the next two days in the much larger entries in WHP classes than before. Caroline Webb tutored in the flat ridden and Sandra Seward took children from 8yrs to 17yrs through the requirements for Judging and Stewarding at shows.Three driven and one ridden pony were performance graded following the clinics.

Fintray Sheltie Stakes Print E-mail

This show is run each year (at least 10) to raise money for the local hall and school at Fintray - a village close to Aberdeen. Ponies from the Clothie Stud and Broothom Ponies take part.

There are 6 races with 9 ponies in each:

  1. driven through cones against the clock
  2. Lead rein
  3. 2 flat races
  4. 2 over hurdles.
The races take place in a big field (at least football pitch size) along with all sorts of side-shows.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported the show and despite the appalling weather in the weeks running up to the show we had a fabulous weekend, with sunshine on both days. On arrival at the showground on Thursday it was obvious that there was no way we could use the rings, our little ponies would have been up to their knees from the start.

Briar Piccolo wins the M&M Ridden H.O.Y.S. Qualifier at Cheshire County.   Piccolo is owned by Vivien Hampton and Ridden by Elizabet Saxton who has made an outanding job of breaking him to ride and getting a ticket to H.O.Y.S. in only three months.
